On a remote island in the pacific, scientists are conducting a pretty important weather experiment that goes bad... causing temperatures to go over the boiling point and causing nuclear storms. The trouble was caused by interference over the radio signal they used. Seem's the interferance was caused by a giant egg... which is attack the by the islands inhabitants... giant praying mantis's that were mutated by the weather experiment. When the hatches and turns out to be a baby Godzilla... guess who shows up to protect his son? You guessed it, Godzilla. He teaches his son to use his inherited atomic breath... but the lesson isnt going too well. 'Minya', as he's come to be called, can only choke out atomic smoke rings. They dont come in handy when he's attacked by the Kamacura's and a huge spider known as Speiga. To get off the island alive, the scientists do the experiment again and cause a giant snow storm. Godzilla and Minya battle on through the storm, trying to kill Speiga. After Speiga retreats... the two settle down for a nice hibernation and the scientists get off the island alive.
My thoughts:
This movie isnt too bad. It's no academy award winner, but it is still fun to watch. It's really funny to see minya get knocked around not only by his enimies, but also by his own father. If I were those scientists, I'd have told the guy's who rescued me on the island to blast minya to pieces... for gods sake, would want another nuclear terror ripping up your cities? 'Yo pa... watch me take out the capitol building!' I mean come on... I'd have had him put down. Oh well... Minya didnt turn out to be a menace like dear old dad. Ofcoarse... we never saw him after Godzilla's Revenge... mabey he was toughening up to become Heisei Godzilla... heh...
