A couple of shipwrecked people find themselves on an island harboring not only Godzilla, but a giant shrimp! The shrimp is named Ebirah and it attacks any ship that has the misfortune of being in it's waters. Only one ship know's how to repel the giant shrimp... and guess what... the shipmates are all evil and bent on world domination! They are manufacturing nuclear weapons on the island and Godzilla is slumbering in a giant cave where the shipwrecked people find themselves a pretty, young native woman from infant island. A new story is revealed about the natives of infant island being captured and taken as slaves to make the spray that repels the giant shrimp. Godzilla is awoken by the shipwrecked people with a bolt of lightning to fight the giant Ebirah.
After a few good battles, Godzilla retires for a nap, right after he tramples the nuclear power plant. A deranged power plant worker set's a timer for the factory to go up in a huge nuclear explosion. Godzilla wakes up again, after a giant condor attacks the native woman. After Godzilla expels the giant bird from the island he goes and dispells Ebirah by ripping off his giant claw. Mothra is called upon to rescue the people from the ticking time bomb island. A huge net is created and everyone except the evil men escape the island. Godzilla jumps off the island at the last second and the island is engulfed by a giant nuclear explosion.
My Thoughts:
This film is under-rated. The plot is pretty intricate. The evil men who are making nuclear weapons use the secluded island to manufacture their weapons and as their base because it is heavily gaurded by Ebirah. No ship would venture into certain death knowing what is there. Lucky them though... they have a repellent. Pretty well written... if only the FX budget was bigger right? Over all, a good film. It is worth watching on like a stormy night with some lobter or brine shrimp to eat while viewing!
