Actor Hideyo Amamoto dies.
Hideyo (Eisei) Amamoto, probably best known to kaiju fans as the evil Dr. Who from KING KONG ESCAPE (1967), passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2003 of acute pneumonia.
Born on Janyuary 2, 1926 Amamoto appeared in many Japanese fantasy films and television series through out his career. He is well known to tokusatsu fans Doctor Shinugami on KAMEN RIDER; Inami the toy maker from GODZILLA'S REVENGE (1969); and most recently as the mysterious prophet Isayama in GODZILLA - MOTHRA - KING GHIDORAH (2001). Amamoto was 77 years old and he will missed by fans of Japanese fantasy and science-fiction.
